With recent heightened regulatory approval pressure, there needs to be a practical method available to demonstrate the effective performance of a treatment.  In response, Companion Diagnostics are playing an increasingly critical role in the development of new therapeutic agents.  As a result, research into key diagnostic technologies has become a hot topic, especially areas such as biomarkers, assay development and detection techniques. This has naturally led to the need to conduct diagnostic research in parallel with the early stages of drug discovery. 

This conference will highlight state-of-the-art scientific research and technologies, enabling the provision of tools for the development of Companion Diagnostics.

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

Every month technological barriers are broken in the field of sequencing and several benefits derive from these new achievements. Amongst these, the availability of inexpensive and accessible technology for use in a variety of biology/health care research areas, as well as in environmental, safety and legal domains, is notable. There remain challenges to be solved, however, such as the management, the interpretation and beneficial use of the produced data. Nonetheless these new breakthroughs provide a clear path forward to sequencing paradigms that will make a huge impact even in everyday life.

This meeting aims to bring together worldwide experts in the field, with a particular focus on future technologies and applications. The talks will combine provider updates on coming improvements as well as presentations from scientific experts on recent discoveries and applications.

Conference Overview - 2012

ELRIG (European Laboratory and Robotics Interest Group), SLAS the (Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening) and  BPS (British Pharmacological Society) are now preparing for the Sixth Annual Drug Discovery Conference to be held at Manchester Central on 5th & 6th September 2012.

As in previous years the objective of this conference is to provide a communication, education and networking opportunity for scientists engaged in early-phase drug discovery whether in academia, biotech or industry.  As with our highly successful meeting in 2011, attendees will hear world class speakers discussing the challenges and opportunities facing the drug discovery scientist.  The scientific sessions will be complemented by a large poster session, a growing vendor exhibition with over 100 exhibitors including the Innovation Zone, a Media Area, Careers Zone and a number of training sessions.   This year we are featuring a Lunchtime Session sponsored by SLAS – Informatics: Making Knowledge from Laboratory Data
