Stem Cells & Regenerative Medicine

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

The provision of Stem Cells and their derived progeny is one of the most promising high impact developments in modern medical science. In pharmaceutical research they have been harnessed to provide a plethora of highly characterised cells for a wide range of applications. More direct applications of stem cells are also enabling the development of a whole new field of therapy, Regenerative Medicine, focusing on the underlying causes of diseases by effectively replacing or regenerating the damaged cells themselves. This conference will highlight state of the art research and technology enabling the provision of stem cells, their differentiation into desired cell types as well as applications as potential therapeutic agents.

Conference Overview

ELRIG (European Laboratory and Robotics Interest Group), SLAS the (Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening) and BPS (British Pharmacological Society) are now preparing for the Fifth Annual Drug Discovery Conference to be held at Manchester Central on 7th & 8th September 2011.

As in previous years the objective of this conference is to provide a communication, education and networking opportunity for scientists engaged in early-phase drug discovery whether in academia, biotech or industry. As with our highly successful meeting in 2010, attendees will hear world class speakers discussing the challenges and opportunities facing the drug discovery scientist. The scientific sessions will be complemented by a large poster session, a growing vendor exhibition with over 85 exhibitors and a number of training sessions.

Next Generation Sequencing

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

The impact of DNA sequencing has touched most research laboratories across the world, either as part of historical landmarks such as the human genome project or simply through the use of what have become routine sequence analysis procedures. As a consequence, many successful efforts have been put in place to both improve the quality and decrease the cost of traditional DNA sequencing. Recently, some radically different approaches have been developed and introduced to the market. These new technologies herald the era of Next Generation DNA Sequencing and move us towards increasingly cost effective whole genome sequences and the benefits that will bring to a wide variety of applications.

This meeting will offer insights into the field of Next Generation DNA sequencing through presentations highlighting both the new technologies and their applications. Speakers from industry and academia will discuss their approaches in this emerging area which is certain to play a central role in a broad variety of fields including life science research, molecular diagnostics, biomarker discovery and forensic DNA testing.

BioPharmaceuticals Flow Cytometry & Imaging

FCI10_banner_v3_0_-_600x200-HQ__GE

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

Until the inaugural BioPharmaceutical Flow Cytometry 2008 meeting held at AstraZeneca R&D Charnwood, UK, there had been little opportunity for users of Flow Cytometry in Drug Discovery and development to get together, share expertise, discuss pitfalls and future requirements.

This meeting was recognised as a huge success by attendees that included small-to mid-sized biotech companies, contract research organisations and global pharmaceutical companies.  Demand has led to a 2nd meeting – ‘BioPharmaceutical Flow Cytometry & Imaging 2010’  at GSK, Ware maintaining the same important themes but expanding to include imaging.   The content of this FREE two day meeting will include industrial-based themes covering the drug development journey from discovery to clinical evaluation.
