BioPharmaceuticals 2009
The ability of the adaptive immune response to generate diversity in the antibody repertoire provides the underpinning of the discovery of new antibody-based therapeutics. The fundamental elements of random recombination and somatic mutation are being harnessed in different ways to generate high quality starting points from which new and important therapeutics, including antibodies, therapeutic proteins and other biologic entities, will emerge. However, there is a growing list of biophysical parameters that must be considered in the selection and engineering of optimal therapeutic drug candidates.
This session will examine the different platform technologies that are being used in our industry today to generate the diversity from which to select the biopharmaceuticals of tomorrow.
