Next Generation Sequencing

ppfcaba4a0

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

The impact of DNA sequencing has touched most research laboratories across the world, either as part of historical landmarks such as the human genome project or simply through the use of what have become routine sequence analysis procedures. As a consequence, many successful efforts have been put in place to both improve the quality and decrease the cost of traditional DNA sequencing. Recently, some radically different approaches have been developed and introduced to the market. These new technologies herald the era of Next Generation DNA Sequencing and move us towards increasingly cost effective whole genome sequences and the benefits that will bring to a wide variety of applications.

This meeting will offer insights into the field of Next Generation DNA sequencing through presentations highlighting both the new technologies and their applications. Speakers from industry and academia will discuss their approaches in this emerging area which is certain to play a central role in a broad variety of fields including life science research, molecular diagnostics, biomarker discovery and forensic DNA testing.

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

Until the inaugural BioPharmaceutical Flow Cytometry 2008 meeting held at AstraZeneca R&D Charnwood, UK, there had been little opportunity for users of Flow Cytometry in Drug Discovery and development to get together, share expertise, discuss pitfalls and future requirements.

This meeting was recognised as a huge success by attendees that included small-to mid-sized biotech companies, contract research organisations and global pharmaceutical companies.  Demand has led to a 2nd meeting – ‘BioPharmaceutical Flow Cytometry & Imaging 2010’  at GSK, Ware maintaining the same important themes but expanding to include imaging.   The content of this FREE two day meeting will include industrial-based themes covering the drug development journey from discovery to clinical evaluation.

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

Microfluidics & Nanotechnology in Drug Discovery

Advances in Microfluidics technologies have expanded its use in sectors across life sciences research, drug discovery and clinical applications. With the exploding progress in nanotechnologies over the last decade, these two technological streams are rapidly converging and are set to revolutionise drug discovery and healthcare.

This conference will draw world-class speakers from the scientific community and industrial sectors, through presentations covering compound screening, complex biology, detection, drug delivery and pre-clinical applications. This meeting will aid to catalyse the development of new application opportunities and the adoption of these advancing technologies.

Conference Overview

ELRIG (European Laboratory and Robotics Interest Group), SBS the (Society of Biomolecular Sciences) and  BPS (British Pharmacological Society) are now preparing for the fourth Annual Drug Discovery Conference to be held at the ‘Ricoh’ Arena, Coventry on 1st and 2nd September 2010.

As in previous years the objective of this conference is to provide a communication, education and networking opportunity for  scientists engaged in early-phase drug discovery whether in academia, biotech or industry.  As with our highly successful meeting in 2009, attendees will hear world class speakers discussing the challenges and opportunities facing the drug discovery scientist.  The scientific sessions will be complemented by a poster session, a vendor exhibition with over 80 exhibitors, and a number of training sessions.

Keynote Debate:

Make sure you stay to hear the Keynote Debate taking place at the end of Day 2.  Jackie Hunter and James Hagan will be debating:

'The Challenges Facing Drug Discovery'.

This will take place at 3.30pm on 2nd September, hope you will join us for a very lively debate.
